Cassie Dart ...
Cassie is an actor / writer / director who loves anything that includes characters and a narrative. She is particularly keen to produce or support anyone willing to tackle the realms of sci-fi and fantasy film. Cassie's favourite films include Serenity, Pitch Black, Willow and the Dark Crystal. Also high on the list are fantasy shows (that have generally been axed) like Dead Like Me, Roar and Firefly. Also British comedies like Black Adder, Black Books or Spaced deserve a mention.
After putting acting aside for a time, Cassie studied Arts at the University of Melbourne, majoring in English and History. After that she was left (like many postgrads) not knowing what to do next. After a year she ran into her partner Paul and started an independent film company called FixedPoint Productions, producing both independent short film and client videos. Their first film The Last Outpost screened as part of the Melbourne Underground Film Festival. Since then Cassie has written and directed several short films, and has fallen back into her love of acting, both in film and theatre.
In January 2006 Cassie became 11-year-old Hydra Sustainable as part of the VIC Government's roving sustainability show in schools, and spends a lot of time goofing around to entertain and hopefully somewhat educate the kids. After directing two plays with the Melbourne Fringe, and also a short for the Melbourne and Sydney Short & Sweet festival, Cassie has learnt her Arts Degree is just about as useful as putty for the wall, but is quite happy to continue not to pursue anything remotely sensible.
Among many things Cassie is keen to direct her own feature, pursue her love of stunt acting (particular if it involves sharp pointy objects) and to play one character who is not evil, twisted, prepubescent or a man.
