Glenda Robinson...
Glenda Robinson first encountered re-enactment when she was taken to a public display by her new boyfriend, Wayne. She went away after the day's proceedings thinking "I could do better than that" and she was hooked.
Twenty three years later she still wants to do better. She has re-enacted every century in her native island of Great Britain from the 2nd BC to the 17th AD, and is concurrently mocked and exemplified for hand-sewing all her family's re-enactment clothing. She has learned needlework, woodwork, metalwork and leatherwork in the name of re-enactment, has read more books than she can possibly remember, and owns a fabric stash nearing 1500 m3. She is currently the Treasurer and WebMatriarch of The Pike and Musket Society.
Her working life shows a similar interest in history. An Analyst/Programmer, she develops a proprietary accounting package originally written in the early 1990s, running on a SCO Unix server. In a strange happenstance, this package runs on a platform written by a founding member of Perth's Grey Company.
Acting highlights include Day in the Life of a Roman Soldier by Crawford in 1987, Live and Sweaty (1992), Empire for Computer Associates (2002), the Vinegar Hill Colonial Re-enactment in 2004 and most recently, as a costumed extra in Episode 351 of All Saints in 2006. |
