Nick Hallam...

Nick HallamAfter leaving school, Nick studied for 4 years in various short courses covering Video Production, Cinema Studies, Media Studies, Photography, Film and Cinematography.   During his studies Nick concentrated his interest mainly towards performing the role of Director of Photography on many short student films.

While studying, Nick worked part time as a Camera Assistant for a Freelance Cameraman working on low budget corporate and promotional videos, as well as a period of time at Crawford Productions working on shows such as Cluedo and the Flying Doctors.

After finishing his studies, Nick got his first full time job working for a broadcast audio production facility as an Audio Assistant.   Most of his work with this company centred around sporting, outside broadcasts and studio recordings.

After working for this company for a year, and missing the camera-orientated side of production, Nick left the firm and went to work for several small production facilities part-time as a sub contracted Camera operator, shooting corporate, promotional videos and TV commercials.

Having done this for a year, Nick was then offered a job with Channel 7 in News and Current Affairs as a Sound Recordist and Assistant Cameraman, which he accepted.   For three years he worked for Seven Nightly News, Today Tonight, and Sportsworld in this capacity.

In January of 1997 Nick left Channel 7 to go and start his own company freelancing as a sound recordist and assistant cameraman.   While freelancing Nick worked for shows such as A Current Affair, 7:30 Report, The Footy Show, Better Homes and Gardens, Star Struck, Money, Good Medicine, Hey Hey It's Saturday, Burke's Backyard, Rex Hunt's Fishing Show, E! News and many more.   His work also included numerous TV commercials and corporate videos for other Melbourne production companies.

In 1999 Nick turned his eye back to the camera when he began production on his first broadcast television documentary entitled Digital Pastimes - The History of Computer Gaming.   Nick acts in the capacity of Writer, Producer, Cameraman and director on this half hour doco.

Since, Nick has taken to more camera and production opportunities, co-ordinating productions and working on jobs for overseas clients from the UK and USA.   He has also shot many large budget corporate videos and TV commercials for a variety of Melbourne production facilities.

Nick HallamIn 2001/2002, Nick turned his attention to the dramatic, co-writing, producing, and directing a large-scale independent short film entitled The Broken Allegiance a film in the sci-fi genre set in the Star Wars universe. The film took 1 1/2 years to complete and featured feature film standard visual effects.   Featuring a cast and crew of over 40 people, its Internet distributed release has garnered worldwide recognition being downloaded well over a million times.   It has also screened at many local film festivals, won awards and received much media coverage on television, radio and print media.

Later in 2002 Nick turned his hand to comedy, producing and directing comedy material for television broadcast as part of the 13-episode season.   Since then the material, performed by Melbourne stand up comic Daniel Burt, has attracted the attention of McManus' production company and other TV industry personnel.
