March, 2008
Hello and welcome to the new-look newsletter for Snowgum Films. As we go through and make adjustments and improvements to "who we are" and "what we do", it has become imperative that we actually update you guys on "who" and "what" it is we are doing far more often than what we currently are. As such, expect this new and fresh newsletter to be sent off at some point every month, with augmented updates trailing when necessary.
If you would like to unsubscribe at any point, you can of course do so by following the instructions at the bottom of the newsletter. If you have any problems viewing this newsletter – please let us know! Cross platform encoding for emailing HTML is turning out to be a bit of a science, and the more info we have the better our quality control on these newsletters in the future.
In this months newsletter we talk a bit about Troll Bridge, tell you to download our latest film Goldilocked, show you some violently beautiful images from The Body, chat about Rincewind running through Bristol, and finally try and convince you to join the army. |

Ain’t Dead. Last year, you may remember we shot some pickup footage for the opening battle scene… We regret to announce that this footage has been lost due to a technical malfunction that had nothing to do with us. After briefly considering scrapping the opening sequence completely, we’ve instead opted to rework it and shoot it from scratch with resources and know-how we only dreamed of when we started. In May of this year, we will be assembling from local historical re-enactment groups two armies to clash and for a young Cohen to obliterate.
We’ve already held auditions for the extra speaking roles created, but if you would like to be involved in the historical re-enactment side of things, please see the war recruitment notice below.
Beyond this – and this is the first time I’ve ever given a date – we plan on having Troll Bridge finished by the end of this year, ready to premiere at the next Nullus Anxietas. If it isn’t ready by then – I will more than happily refund the sponsorship money for anyone who isn’t suitably amazed by the progress we’ve made. It’s nigh-time to bring this puppy home.
In the meantime – if you live in the UK, you’ll know (provided you don’t live under a rock) that the live action Colour of Magic telemovie is on tonight! Be sure to check it out, and more info can be found here. |

Is now online for viewing! Cross between a particularly well known children’s fable and an episode of Cops, Goldilocked is a socially aware comedy looking at the consequences of Goldilocks’ actions in a contemporary Australian setting. And vastly more interesting and infinitely more absurd than that sounded! Shot over three hours, and now clocking in at roughly 8 minutes, Goldilocked is now available to watch right here.

The 2nd, 3rd and 4th day of shooting The Body went like a charm! Covered in sand, fake blood and flies, you can check out 74 photos taken from the spectacularly beautiful weekend (days 2 and 3) right here. |

If you would like to be involved in what we hope will be the largest war scene ever to appear in a short film, and you happen to be a historical re-enactor with your own arms and armour (not to mention being in Victoria, Australia late March) – then we want you! If interested, please email our battle co-ordinator and co-producer Steven Wyley - stevenwyley@snowgumfilms.com - with your expression of interest. Available slots are fast filling up, so be quick! |
